Over the past few years, Beeper has been working up and down on Beeper Mini to make iMessage accessible to Android users. Which is being denied by Apple and the company has been trying to finding their workarounds to make the service function. But now it seems like the company has decided to take down the app and close the project. As the Beeper Mini has been removed from the Google Play store, which indicates that the messaging platform appears to be approaching its limit of available alternatives.
Following an announcement made by the Beeper team a month ago, which stated that the app had received its final update, the most recent development follows. The announcement stated that the Beeper team had very much given up the struggle to make iMessages work consistent on Android phones.
Additionally, the iMessage feature that was previously available in Beeper Mini has been relocated to the ‘Labs’ location within the Beeper Cloud app. According to reports, the message that was sent to users of Beeper Cloud stated, “We have moved iMessage to ‘Labs’ in Beeper Cloud and removed Beeper Mini from the Play Store.”
The Beeper Mini app can still be side loaded by using the apk file that is available on the Beeper website, despite the fact that it is no longer accessible for download on the Google storefront and cannot be downloaded from there.
In the announcement message, Eric Migicovsky, who is also the cofounder of Beeper, provided additional updates on the roadmap that the firm is now following. According to the report, the company acknowledges that the addition of fourteen additional chat networks to the Beeper Mini Android app is its top priority and is currently in the process of being developed.
In their blog post the company stated “It is a completely new app, with a new design, built for top speed and performance.” In addition, the company has announced that enhancements to the Beeper desktop application, including an increase in performance, are already in the works.
The company announced that it will no longer provide updates for its application in the event that Apple were to interfere with the service. A statement made by the Beeper team stated, “As much as we want to fight for what we believe to be a fantastic product that really should exist, the truth is that we can’t win a cat-and-mouse game with the largest company on earth.”
Beeper’s efforts to run iMessage on Android phones have been consistently banned by Apple, which has asserted that the Beeper Mini app posed “significant risks to user security and privacy.” Beeper has been unable to run iMessage on Android phones. The Beeper team, on the other hand, categorically rejects that assertion and instead accuses Apple of monopolizing the iMessage service in order to increase iPhone sales.
